When April comes to an end and the winter storms send their last icy messengers across the green fields, then it's time to start planning your summer vacation. How about a stay in Granada? The southern Spanish metropolis is famous for its large number of historical buildings from different eras. The poet Luis García Montero, who put his love for his hometown into verse, is someone who knows the flair of the city, its streets and squares and the people who live there. These inspired the Spanish composer Lorenzo Palomo to write his extraordinary Sinfonía a Granada for soprano, guitar and orchestra, in which he pays homage to Andalusian folk music. The Spaniard Jone Martínez makes her Chemnitz debut with the soprano part, her compatriot Rafael Aguirre takes over the guitar part,

Those who prefer Parisian nobility to southern European temperament will get their money's worth with the other pieces of this symphony concert. Gabriel Fauré 's Suite Pelléas et Mélisande is a romantic and sensual composition. The tragic love story, which in its triangular constellation is based on Wagner's Tristan und Isoldereminded of, is drawn by Fauré in intimate, delicately characterizing colors. Maurice Ravel, on the other hand, wanted to set a monument to French baroque music and one of its best-known representatives, François Couperin, with the suite of the same name at the beginning of the 20th century. His view of this time is only a little melancholic, but largely characterized by virtuoso, slightly sparkling joy of playing. It then gets lively with Ravel's La Valse , about which he wrote in his autobiographical sketch : "I saw this work as a kind of apotheosis of the Viennese waltz, with which in my mind the idea of ​​a fantastic and inescapable whirling is connected."
