Launched in 2007, Africa Lyric's Opera is an initiative of the international solidarity organization Women of Africa which aims to promote and make accessible to as many people as possible, classical music, lyrical art and enhance the Opera in its diversity. It is a question of making known the lyrical artists and instrumentalists of the world and of African origin, by detecting, supporting and accompanying the young lyrical talents of African origin. The international competition is fully in line with this approach and aims to introduce new voices to opera professionals and the general public.

Lancée en 2007, Africa Lyric’s Opera est une initiative de l’organisation de solidarité internationale Women of Africa qui vise à promouvoir et rendre accessible au plus grand nombre, la musique classique, l’art lyrique et valoriser l’Opéra dans sa diversité. Il s’agit de faire connaitre les artistes lyriques et instrumentistes du monde et d’origine africaine, en détectant, soutenant et accompagnant les jeunes talents lyriques d’origine africaine. Le concours international s’inscrit pleinement dans cette démarche et a pour objectif de faire découvrir de nouvelles voix aux professionnels de l’art lyrique ainsi qu’au grand public.
