A concert fails: the pianist is too late, the audience too early - depending on the situation. The singer tries to cover up the embarrassment. But then she gives way to her anger in a tirade interspersed with countless shreds of her vocal repertoire and ruthlessly settles accounts with her life, her audience and the music business.

Opera director Andrea Moses stages Luciano Berio's scenic concert from 1972, whirling up the fragments of a diva's psyche with relish and playing in the ruins of European cultural history. 

The performative overwriting and chamber music arrangement of Vincenzo Bellini's classic opera »Norma« is a refuge for do-gooders.

Together with the audience, Norma and Co. lock themselves up in the e-werk weimar and save their convictions: Finally escapism and political zest for action can come together! Far away from stubborn slogans and nationalistic generalizations, a pluralistic evening emerges and finally the mystical concentration that the heroine Norma has dreamed of for so long ...

Vincenzo Bellini's early romantic opera has been given the intimate sound in a new musical guise that heralds a political séance and makes Norma talk. The staging is collective lament, shared vision and world creation.
