Ο François Girard, μετά τη μυστηριακή και αιματοβαμμένη εκδοχή του Πάρσιφαλ, που υπήρξε μία από τις πιο έντονα ανθρωποκεντρικές παραστάσεις της Met τα τελευταία χρόνια, επιστρέφει με ένα ακόμη αριστούργημα του Βάγκνερ, τον Ιπτάμενο Ολλανδό, σε διεύθυνση του Valery Gergiev. François Girard, after his mysterious and bloody version of Parsifal, which has been one of the Met's most intensely anthropocentric performances in recent years, returns with another Wagner masterpiece, The Flying Dutchman, directed by Valery Gergiev. Evgeny Nikitin portrays the role of the mysterious Dutchman doomed to roam the skies forever. Anja Kampe is the faithful Senta, whose love can solve the spell. Senta's passion for the portrait of the legendary captain turns the Met's stage into a huge oil painting. Franz-Josef Selig plays Senta's father, Daland. Sergey Skorokhodov has the role of the hunter Eric, David Portillo sings the helmsman and Mihoko Fujimura plays Mary, Senta's nanny.
The Flying Dutchman is co-produced by the Met with L'Opéra de Québec and the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam.
