Once they asked Giuseppe Verdi: "Maestro, if your house were to burn down which of your operas would you save?". Verdi thought about it for a while and then replied: “My hunchback”. RIGOLETTO, composed in 1851, was Verdi's favorite title; on the one hand certainly for the memory of the bitter struggle with the censorship to be able to stage it (the subject from which it is taken, "Le Roi s'amuse" by Victor Hugo, had been prohibited), on the other because it constitutes a stage fundamental in the evolution of his artistic career, to the point that he called it a "revolutionary work". RIGOLETTO is a work full of refinements that have made school for composers from all over the world and of famous melodies such as “This or that for me are equal”, “Beautiful daughter of love”
and “La donna è mobile”.
