A nocturnal encounter on a moonlit lake, fairytale water creatures, love at first sight - what could be the start of a dreamlike romance becomes the toughest test for the characters in Dvořák's Rusalka. Because it is a love that must not be, from a mermaid to a human prince. For a life by his side and a human soul, the mermaid gives up everything she knows, everything that defines her, her form, her community, even her voice. When she finally stands before him in human form, the prince is entranced by her beauty - and at the same time deeply unsettled by her silence. Will his love endure?

Dvořák provides the classic material with his very own nostalgic note and skilfully spans the arc between the world of fairy tales and the human world, real fears and fantastic characters.
