Raphaël Pichon and his Pygmalion ensemble meet with soprano Sabine Devieilhe for an exceptional concert at the Philharmonie de Paris.

 

After having dedicated themselves to the Mozartian repertoire with the discs “Mozart & The Weber Sisters” or “Libertà! Mozart & the opera”, Sabine Devieilhe and Raphaël Pichon’s Pygmalions return to Bach and Handel. In October 2017, they had already devoted an entire concert to Bach at the Philharmonie de Paris. This time they perform the cantata for solo soprano “Mein Herze schwimmt im Blut”, composed in 1714 in Weimar and given several times in the following years, which draws in an almost operatic style an itinerary from the pain of the sinner to the joy of the reconciliation of the soul with God.

After having devoted himself in particular to the Mozart repertoire, Raphaël Pichon and his Pygmalion ensemble returned to Bach and Handel; they find for the occasion Sabine Devieilhe.

Between Sabine Devieilhe and the Pygmalion de Pichon, it's a love story: she was part of many of their projects, such as the disc The Weber Sisters or Libertà! Mozart and the Opera , a sort of pastiche of Mozart's three operas and Da Ponte orchestrated with freshness. In 2021 they reconnect with Bach, to whom they had already dedicated an entire concert at the Philharmonie in October 2017: this time they perform the cantata for solo soprano Mein Herze schwimmt im Blut , composed in 1714 in Weimar and given several times over the years. following, which draws in an almost operatic style a route from the pain of the sinner to the joy of the reconciliation of the soul with God. Next to this work, excerpts from Handel's operaGiulio Cesare and his first and last oratorio, Il trionfo del Tempo et del Disinganno .
