Insula orchestra offers a journey to the romantic lands of Germany! Franz Schubert occupies a special place there, notably with his “tragic” Symphony, whose key in minor accentuates the anxiety, and his “Unfinished” Symphony.

“The work begins with a murmur of the bass strings. Impossible to describe the profound originality of this work written in the rare key of B minor, which Tchaikovsky will use for his Symphony No. 6. The second movement is in E major (death is often in major mode in Schubert) and modulates a lot . We will remember the haunting pizzicati of the strings, the colors of trombones, oboes and clarinet, the dramatism and tenderness of the 1st movement opposing the marching character of the second movement which evolves into a chorale. The themes are generally descending (Schubertian burial) with the exception of a wind theme in the second movement (liturgical elevation?) Its popularity has never dried up. It remains one of the most universally loved works in musical history.”

Insula orchestra propose un voyage dans les terres romantiques allemandes ! Franz Schubert y occupe une place de choix avec notamment sa Symphonie « tragique » dont la tonalité en mineur accentue l’inquiétude, et sa Symphonie « Inachevée ».

« L’œuvre commence par un murmure des cordes basses. Impossible de décrire l’originalité profonde de cette œuvre écrite dans la tonalité rare de si mineur, que Tchaïkovski reprendra pour sa Symphonie n° 6. Le deuxième mouvement est en mi majeur (la mort est souvent en mode majeur chez Schubert) et module beaucoup. On retiendra les pizzicati obsédants des cordes, les couleurs de trombones, de hautbois et de clarinette, le dramatisme et la tendresse du 1er mouvement s’opposant au caractère de marche du second mouvement qui évolue vers un choral. Les thèmes sont généralement descendants (l’ensevelissement schubertien) à l’exception d’un thème aux vents dans le second mouvement (élévation liturgique ?) Sa popularité ne s’est jamais tarie. C’est toujours l’une des œuvres les plus universellement aimées de l’histoire de la musique. »
