In Vienna at the beginning of the 19th century, the “Schubertiades” became famous, salon sessions where the composer Franz Schubert was a central figure and where he and other artists, as well as patrons and friends, interpreted and celebrated the compositions of the Austrian composer. These informal events involved not only music, but also the recitation of poetry or songs and dances accompanied by the piano. They were intimate moments of sharing, in which art (and music in particular) occupied a central place.

This is the spirit that pianist Maria João Pires will recreate over three days at Gulbenkian Music, in four concerts she will share the stage of the Grand Auditorium with other musicians and friends. A major event not only around Schubert's music, but also based on it and anchored in the idea of ​​music as celebration.

Na Viena do início do século XIX ficaram famosas as “Schubertiades”, sessões de salão onde o compositor Franz Schubert era figura central e onde o próprio e outros artistas, bem como patronos e amigos, interpretavam e celebravam as composições do compositor austríaco. Esses eventos informais passavam não apenas pela música, mas também pela declamação de poesia ou por canções e danças acompanhadas ao piano. Eram momentos íntimos de partilha, nos quais a arte (e a música em particular) ocupava um lugar central.

É esse o espírito que a pianista Maria João Pires irá recriar ao longo de três dias na Gulbenkian Música, em quatro concertos partilhará o palco d Grande Auditório com outros músicos e amigos. Um acontecimento de relevo não só em torno da música de Schubert, mas também a partir dela e ancorado na ideia da música como celebração.
