For as long as anyone can remember, a dragon has been guarding the hoard of the Nibelung, an immeasurable treasure of gold, which also includes the magical ring of the Nibelung. Only one can defeat the dragon: the one who has not learned to fear.

It is the young Siegfried who, without any knowledge of the previous story, forges a magic sword called the Nothung with which to kill the dragon and thus obtain the ring and the hoard. When his lips accidentally touch the Dragonborn, he can suddenly understand the language of the animals. So he learns from a small forest bird that it is destined for him to go through a magical circle of fire and awaken the beautiful Brünnhilde, who was put into a deep sleep a long time ago.

But of course there are a number of obstacles to be overcome on this path, because the Nibelungen dwarf Mime, who raised Siegfried, also wants to get possession of the ring. As is well known, this ring grants its wearer dominion over the entire world...

Richard Wagner's third part of the »Ring des Nibelungen« introduces us to the young and wild Siegfried who, like a kind of »super hero«, is supposed to save the world that his grandfather, God Wotan, carelessly jeopardized. This opera is characterized by romantic nature music with talking birds and dragons, the idyllic rustling of the forest and lively, cheerful singing scenes. In this special version for children, it is staged like a fairy tale.
