In the continuation of the "Cēsis Wagnerian", the Cēsis Art Festival and the "Cēsis" Concert Hall present the third opera "Siegfried" of Richard Wagner's opera tetralogy "The Ring of the Nibelung". At the conductor's desk of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra will be the young, intelligent, passionate Finnish maestro Tarmo Peltokoski, who has rapidly gained world fame.

The opera "Siegfried" is a tale about a boy who defeats a dragon and discovers the power of love. Siegfried knows no fear, he craves adventure and is able to forge a heroic sword, the poison of the dragon's blood allows him to understand the language of the Woodbird, Siegfried has no idea that the battle for the Nibelungen ring continues and the twilight of the gods is approaching. Without blinking an eye, he passes through the magic circle of fire, wakes Wotan's sleeping Brinnhild with a kiss, and finally feels fear, because he has encountered the cravings for love that he has never felt before. The opera is crowned by the rejoicings of the immortal Valkyrie Brinnhilde and the Vientiane Siegfried of the hero over the shining love and the laughing death.

In the upcoming concert in the "Cēsis" concert hall, we will hear the world's leading opera stars, who are at the very peak of their career. In the title role – Michael Weinius, who was a great Zygmunds Cesis in the 2019 performance of "Valkyra". In the role of Mime of the Nibelung, we will meet the titled and internationally sought-after character tenor Andreas Conrad. The traveler or Wotāns will be the great Oliver Zwarg, who sang Kurvenāl in the Cēsis production of "Tristan and Isolde" and was Alberich and the Wandering Dutchman in the LNO performances. The difficult role of Brinnhilde has been entrusted to the well-known Lithuanian dramatic soprano Vida Miknevičiūtė in Latvia, while the role of Erda in Cēsis will be played by the brilliant Swedish contralto Anna Larsson. The dragon Fafner will be Timo Riihonen, whom we met as Hunding in Cēsis "Valkyrie".

Event duration: three parts, two breaks

The concert performance of Richard Wagner's opera "Siegfried" is supported by SEB Bank, LMT, Cēsu County Municipality, the State Culture Capital Fund, AJ Power and Moller auto.

The event takes place with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund, the project is co-financed by REACT-EU funding for mitigating the consequences of the pandemic crisis.

“Cēsu vāgneriānas” turpinājumā Cēsu Mākslas festivāls un Koncertzāle “Cēsis” piedāvā Riharda Vāgnera operu tetraloģijas “Nībelunga gredzens” trešo operu “Zīgfrīds”. Pie Latvijas Nacionālā simfoniskā orķestra diriģenta pults būs pasaules slavu strauji iemantojušais jaunais, viedais, dedzīgais somu maestro Tarmo Peltokoski.

Opera “Zīgfrīds” ir pasaka par puisi, kurš uzvar pūķi un iepazīst mīlestības spēku. Zīgfrīds nepazīst baiļu, viņš alkst piedzīvojumu un spēj nokalt varoņzobenu, pūķa asiņu inde ļauj viņam saprast Mežaputna valodu, Zīgfrīds i nenojauš, ka turpinās cīņa par nībelunga gredzenu un tuvojas dievu mijkrēslis. Acu nepamirkšķinot, viņš šķērso uguns burvju loku, ar skūpstu pamodina Votāna iemidzināto Brinnhildi un beidzot sajūt bailes, jo ir sastapies ar līdz šim nesajustām mīlestības alkām. Operu vainago nemirstību zaudējušās valkīras Brinnhildes un varoņa vientieša Zīgfrīda gaviles par mirdzošo mīlu un smejošo nāvi.

Koncertzālē ”Cēsis” gaidāmajā koncertatskaņojumā dzirdēsim pasaules vadošās operzvaigznes, kas ir savas karjeras pašā virsotnē. Titullomā – Mihaels Veiniuss (Michael Weinius), kurš bija lielisks Zīgmunds Cēsīs 2019. gada “Valkīras” atskaņojumā. Nībelunga Mīmes lomā iepazīsim titulēto un starptautiski pieprasīto raksturtenoru Andreasu Konrādu (Andreas Conrad). Ceļinieks jeb Votāns būs lieliskais Olivers Cvargs (Oliver Zwarg), kurš Cēsu “Tristana un Izoldes” iestudējumā dziedāja Kurvenālu un LNO izrādēs bijis Alberihs un Klīstošais holandietis. Grūtā Brinnhildes loma uzticēta Latvijā labi pazīstamajam lietuviešu dramatiskajam soprānam Vidai Miknevičūtei (Vida Miknevičiūtė), bet Erdas lomā Cēsīs dzirdēsim spožo zviedru kontraltu Annu Larsoni (Anna Larsson). Pūķis Fafners būs Tīmo Rīhonens (Timo Riihonen), kuru Cēsu “Valkīrā” iepazinām kā Hundingu, Alberihu dziedās Armands Siliņš, bet Mežaputnu iemiesos Kristīne Gailīte.

Pasākuma ilgums: trīs daļas, divi starpbrīži

Riharda Vāgnera operas “Zīgfrīds” koncertatskaņojumu atbalsta SEB banka, LMT, Cēsu novada pašvaldība, Valsts Kultūrkapitāla fonds, AJ Power un Moller auto.

Pasākums notiek ar Eiropas Eiropas Reģionālās attīstības fonda finansiālu atbalstu., projektu līdzfinansē REACT-EU finansējums pandēmijas krīzes seku mazināšanai.
