Ich kann es aber durch Töne; ich bin ein Musikus.“ (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) – Wie in jedem Jahr darf im Silvesterkonzert des Philharmonischen Staatsorchesters Mozarts poetisch-jubilierende Musiksprache natürlich nicht fehlen. Sie trifft 2022 auf Wolfgang Rihm, der 2021 seinen 70. Geburtstag feierte und mit Kent Nagano seit vielen Jahren künstlerisch verbunden ist. Außerdem erklingt für den finalen Countdown eine der bekanntesten Londoner Symphonien „Papa“ Haydns: die „Die Uhr“, kontrastiert durch die 100 tickenden Metronome in György Ligetis „Poème symphonique“.
