1992, 2002, 2022... Sir Antonio Pappano was Music Director of La Monnaie from 1992 to 2002: ten beautiful and fruitful years of exchanges with our orchestra which celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2022: a great reason to invite the illustrious British pianist and conductor to make his big return to Brussels, in the company of the famous tenor Ian Bostridge. Together, the two performers will tackle one of the most moving cycles in the history of music: Schubert's Winterreise, the wandering of a solo traveler through the frozen landscape of his broken heart.

What was originally intended to be a classical recital – with only one singer and one pianist – has turned into a concert: Sir Antonio Pappano performs the orchestral version of Hans Zender, at the head of the Chamber Orchestra of the Mint. The vagabond finds his companions...

1992, 2002, 2022… Sir Antonio Pappano a été directeur musical de la Monnaie de 1992 à 2002 : dix belles et fructueuses années d’échanges avec notre orchestre qui fête son 250e anniversaire en 2022 : une belle raison d’inviter l’illustre pianiste et chef d’orchestre britannique à faire son grand retour à Bruxelles, en compagnie du célèbre ténor Ian Bostridge. Ensemble, les deux interprètes aborderont l’un des cycles les plus bouleversants de toute l’histoire de la musique : le Winterreise de Schubert, l’errance d’un voyageur solitaire à travers le paysage gelé de son cœur brisé. 

Ce qui devait être à l’origine un récital classique – avec seulement un chanteur et un pianiste – s’est mué en concert : Sir Antonio Pappano interprète la version orchestrale de Hans Zender, à la tête de l’Orchestre de chambre de la Monnaie. Le vagabond retrouve ses compagnons...
