Spuk unterm Riesenrad

Since the late 1970s, the seven-part GDR horror series Spuk unterm Riesenrad has been part of the annual compulsory film program for many families. The Chemnitz Opera brings the turbulent and comical story about the three enterprising spirits to a musical theater stage for the first time. The author and director Thomas Winter takes the young and old viewers to the well-known venues of the fairground, department store and castle with imaginative images and witty dialogues. In doing so, he opens up space for the composer and conductor Oliver Ostermann, both to draw from the full with a dash of Hollywood sound in opulent choral scenes and to enchant with gentle tones in sensitive ballads.
