Nach seinen bejubelten Literaturadaptionen »Carmen« und »Peer Gynt« widmet sich Johan Inger nun einem Stoff, der inzwischen einen Ballettklassiker des Aufführungskanons und eine weitere Facette des Choreografen darstellt: »Schwanensee«. Für das Semperoper Ballett nimmt der schwedische Tanzschaffende 2023 eine erneute Umdeutung vor, die tiefgründige Fragen behandelt: Welchen Einfluss haben Gewalt und Manipulation auf zwischenmenschliche Beziehungen? Welche Rolle spielen persönliche Freiheit, Respekt und Akzeptanz in einer Liebesbeziehung? 

»Der geraubte Schleier« aus Johann Karl August Musäusʼ Sammlung »Volksmärchen der Deutschen« (1784) gilt als eine der Grundlagen des beliebten Handlungsballetts. Dieses Märchen spielt teilweise im Erzgebirge in der Nähe der »Schwanenstadt« Zwickau und liefert eine spannende Alternative zur traditionellen Deutungsweise von »Schwanensee«. Basierend auf dieser Geschichte und einhergehend mit einer neuen Zusammenstellung von Pjotr I. Tschaikowskys Musik, formt Johan Inger aus Musäusʼ fantastischer Erzählung um das Motiv der Schwanenjungfrau eine choreografische Neuinterpretation.

After his acclaimed literary adaptations »Carmen« and »Peer Gynt«, Johan Inger now devotes himself to a material that has become a ballet classic in the performance canon and represents another facet of the choreographer: »Swan Lake«. For the Semperoper Ballet, the Swedish dance artist reinterprets it again in 2023, one that deals with profound questions: What influence do violence and manipulation have on interpersonal relationships? What role do personal freedom, respect and acceptance play in a love relationship? 

»The stolen veil« from Johann Karl August Musäusʼ collection »Folktales of the Germans« (1784) is considered to be one of the foundations of the popular narrative ballet. Part of this fairy tale takes place in the Ore Mountains near the »Swan City« of Zwickau and provides an exciting alternative to the traditional interpretation of »Swan Lake«. Based on this story and accompanied by a new compilation of Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky's music, Johan Inger forms a choreographic reinterpretation of Musäus' fantastic tale around the motif of the swan maiden.
