Sam Slater is a composer, sound designer and music producer. He is a two-time Grammy winner for producing the film scores for "Joker" and "Chernobyl." He is also known for his work with the Oscar-winning Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir. Sam Slater worked on the production together with our 1st Kapellmeister Mario Hartmuth#TempleOfAlternativeHistories. Two-time Grammy Award-winning composer, sound designer and music producer Sam Slater is known for his roles as both score producer and musical sound designer for Joker and Chernobyl. In addition to his two Grammy Award wins for "Joker" and "Chernobyl". He is also known for his work with the Oscar-winning Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir. 

Together with our 1st Kapellmeister Mario Hartmuth, Sam Slater worked on the production @templeofalternativehistories. How Wagner's Ring can be deconstructed and rearranged, the two tell in our video.

Temple of Alternative Histories is a processual work of art that is created in cooperation with the general public from Kassel and the world. Part of this process includes the production Temple of Appropriated Histories (première July 9) directed by Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, who draws on Wagner's Ring and the Norse mythology surrounding the poetry collection Die Edda . A sculptural installation and an audio artwork by visual artist Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir, focusing on the materials that make up the theater itself, will be on view, titled Temple of Materialized Histories , starting June 15to be experienced in the opera foyer. Entitled Temple of Emerging Histories , a program initiated by Cassandra Edlefsen Lasch will include interactive workshops, guided sensory experiences, and interdisciplinary conversations. 

 

The transdisciplinary art project Temple of Alternative Histories (TAH) takes up the numerous entanglements between nature and culture and discusses our current linear perception of time and matter. How can mythological narratives affect the natural environment and vice versa? With Temple of Alternative Histories a dynamic environment is created in the Staatstheater Kassel. Focused on creative processes, the approach to urgent questions raised by the climate crisis is reflected. Taking into account narrative overlaps in history, the project attempts to redefine the hierarchical boundaries between artistic and scientific disciplines. Which rooms and forms of mediation do we need, to be able to think and act across disciplines about the current state of affairs? TAH brings together residents from Kassel, international professionals, visual artists, performers, as well as cultural scientists, care professionals and non-human actors. It consists of three main components - an art installation, a public program and a stage work - and is inspired by the origins of theater as a place of ritual and the Assembly, a facility constructed to generate meaning.
