Monster sind auch nur ganz normale Menschen. Glauben Sie nicht? Dann schnippen Sie mit bei „The Addams Family“. Auf komische und unterhaltsame Weise geben Andrew Lippa und seine Textautoren Einblick in das Familienleben der Addams. Vater Gomez versucht mit einem schnell gebuchten Liebesurlaub in einem wahrhaft gruseligen Hotel, das Feuer in seiner Ehe mit Morticia am Lodern zu halten. Als Tochter Wednesday, die selbsternannte „Fürstin der Finsternis“, ihrem Vater verkündet, sie habe sich in Lucas Beineke verliebt, einen ganz „normalen“ jungen Mann, beginnen die Probleme für Gomez. Wie soll er das seiner strengen Gattin beibringen? Die Situation droht vollends zu eskalieren, als sich auch noch Lucas’ Eltern zu einem Dinner bei den Addams ankündigen. Nach allerlei Turbulenzen stellt sich heraus, dass Monster und Menschen zwar grundverschieden, aber doch sehr ähnlich sind. So steht einem Happy End für Wednesday und ihren Lucas nichts mehr im Weg.

Father Gomez tries to keep the flames burning in his marriage to Morticia by quickly booking a love vacation to a truly spooky hotel. When daughter Wednesday, the self-proclaimed "Princess of Darkness," announces to her father that she has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a "normal" young man, Gomez's troubles begin. How is he supposed to teach that to his strict wife? The situation threatens to escalate completely when Lucas' parents also announce they are going to dinner at the Addams'. After all sorts of turbulence, it turns out that monsters and humans are fundamentally different, but are very similar. So nothing stands in the way of a happy ending for Wednesday and her Lucas.
Andrew Lippa's musical with the endearingly eccentric characters from the cult series has had more than 700 performances on New York's Broadway since 2010. "The Addams Family" is a grusical about an "awfully nice family", about love and honesty.
