For many, life without beer is unimaginable. Especially in Bavaria. That's why there are over 640 breweries in Bavaria. Beer is food and intoxicant in one, the most popular legal drug. It comes from a grain. A stye. It is kept under water until the amylase comes out of it. The two are dried and ground and mixed and called malt. It is divided, cut up, crushed and further processed until everything is in the barrel. In the beer opera we see it all for real. The Urfass broods and broods until it gives birth to five children: all are bottles. Just like Hydros, the primordial soup, gave birth to Gaia, Tartaros, Eros, Erebos and Nyx in ancient Greece. But the bottles are called Bud, Hein, Skol, Coor and Jup. And they also do it colorfully. At the end, as always, the empty bottles float on top. This is the Mehdorn rule. In addition to the bottles, there are the beer can, the beer mug, the beer tulip and the beer glass. Beer easily leads to a certain disinhibition, which makes some people belt out songs or arias, although they usually never do. At the other end of the scale of human behavioral changes from beer consumption is sleep. It can even come as a surprise and suddenly. Yes, occur, in the literal sense. The cast is agile and quirky. This applies to performers as well as to musicians. Subtle, absurd and, above all, black humor characterizes everything: "Pythonesk" and "Kafkaesk" are probably the right terms for it. Dadaism, concrete poetry, nonsense texts, word permissions, minimal music and great noise combine to form an opera of episodes and numbers.
