König Hildebrand zieht in den Krieg. Vor seiner Abreise gibt er seinen drei von einem Märchenprin­zen träumenden Töchtern Mab, Dot und Flora wichtige Anweisungen: Sie sollen keine Frösche küssen, sich unbedingt vor Lebkuchenhäusern hü­ten und niemals mit Spindeln spielen. Auf gar keinen Fall aber dürfen sie die Tür zu einem ver­bo­tenen Zimmer öffnen! Nun kommt es, wie es kommen muss: Die Tür übt eine unwiderstehli­che Anziehungskraft auf die Prinzessinnen aus, und so entdecken Mab, Dot und Flora im verbotenen Zimmer das Buch des Schicksals, in dem ihre Zukunft steht: Mab und Dot werden schon bald die heiss ersehnten Prinzen heiraten – doch für Flora ist ein Schwein als Ehemann vorgesehen! Während die entsetzte Flora noch hofft, dass alles nur ein Irr­tum ist, kommt der Vater aus dem Krieg zurück – mit ihm der König des Westens und der König des Ostens – je ein Bräutigam für Mab und Dot. Flora befürchtet das Schlimmste – und tatsächlich, im Palast breitet sich ein unangenehmer Geruch aus, und plötzlich steht ein Schwein da und fordert seine Braut auf, mitzukommen! Da das Buch des Schicksals nun einmal geöffnet wurde, gibt es kein Zurück mehr. Zwar stellt sich schon bald heraus, dass das Schwein ein ver­zau­berter Prinz ist; doch da­­mit fangen die Proble­me für Flora erst an... Mu­tig nimmt sie ihr Schicksal selbst in die Hand und geht auf eine lange Reise bis ans Ende der Welt und darüber hinaus, um ihren Prinzen zu retten.
Dem britischen Komponisten Jonathan Dove ist mit diesem musikalischen Märchen aus dem Jahr 2006 ein rasantes, witziges und zugleich tiefgründiges Stück gelungen, das in England und den USA schon viele grosse und kleine Zuschauer be­geistert hat. Nun ist Das verzauberte Schwein in der witzigen Übersetzung von Peter Lund erstmals auf Deutsch zu sehen.

Under no circumstances should they open the door to a forbidden room! Now it comes as it has to come: The door exerts an irresistible attraction on the princesses, and so Mab, Dot and Flora discover the book of destiny in the forbidden room, in which their future is written: Mab and Dot will soon be hot marry the longed-for prince - but a pig is planned for Flora's husband! While the horrified Flora still hopes that everything is just a mistake, the father comes back from the war - with him the king of the west and the king of the east - a bridegroom each for Mab and Dot. Flora fears the worst - and indeed, an unpleasant smell spreads through the palace and suddenly a pig appears and asks his bride to come with her! Now that the Book of Destiny has been opened, there is no going back. It soon turns out that the pig is an enchanted prince; But that's just where Flora's problems begin... Courageously, she takes her destiny into her own hands and embarks on a long journey to the ends of the earth and beyond to save her prince. and suddenly a pig stands there and asks his bride to come along! Now that the Book of Destiny has been opened, there is no going back. It soon turns out that the pig is an enchanted prince; But that's just where Flora's problems begin... Courageously, she takes her destiny into her own hands and embarks on a long journey to the ends of the earth and beyond to save her prince. and suddenly a pig stands there and asks his bride to come along! With this musical fairy tale from 2006, the British composer Jonathan Dove has created a fast-paced, funny and at the same time profound piece that has delighted many young and old audiences in England and the USA. The enchanted pig can now be seen in German for the first time in Peter Lund's funny translation.
