An opera based on the famous story by Konstantin Paustovsky “The Fate of Charles Lonseville” was written especially for the Musical Theater of Karelia by St. Petersburg composer Ilya Kuznetsov. It was staged by the venerable director, artistic director of the St. Petersburg Theater “Through the Looking Glass” Alexander Petrov. The director of the National Museum of Karelia, Mikhail Goldenberg, became the historical consultant for the production.

Epochal events are woven together on stage: the confrontation between Napoleon and Alexander, the fire of Moscow, the flight of the French army - this time has always inspired art to create masterpieces. Against this historical background, the play develops a story of love and deceit, the difficult relationship between a captured French officer, his fiancee left behind in Paris, a Russian girl who fell in love with him, and the chief of police seeking her hand. Moreover, the plot of the opera is closely connected with the history of Petrozavodsk. One of the settings is the Alexander Plant of the early 19th century, and historical characters are among the characters. The new opera is a new look at the events described by the classic of Russian literature, a bright and emotional musical story.

The role of the Voice of the Lake and the part of the kantele are performed by Maria Fedotova  (Petrozavodsk State Conservatory named after A.K. Glazunov).

In 2021, the theater choir received a special jury prize for the Republican Theater Award “Onega Mask” for their work in this performance.

Оперу по мотивам известной повести Константина Паустовского «Судьба Шарля Лонсевиля» специально для Музыкального театра Карелии написал петербургский композитор Илья Кузнецов. Поставил ее маститый режиссер, художественный руководитель Санкт-Петербургского театра «Зазеркалье» Александр Петров. Историческим консультантом постановки стал директор Национального музея Карелии Михаил Гольденберг.

На сцене сплетаются воедино эпохальные события: противостояние Наполеона и Александра, пожар Москвы, бегство французской армии, – это время всегда вдохновляло искусство на создание шедевров. На этом историческом фоне развивается в спектакле история любви и коварства, непростых взаимоотношений пленного французского офицера, его оставленной в Париже невесты, полюбившей его русской девушки и добивающегося ее руки начальника полиции. При этом сюжет оперы тесно связан с историей Петрозаводска. Одним из мест действия становится Александровский завод начала XIX века, а среди действующих лиц – исторические персонажи. Новая опера – это новый взгляд на события, описанные классиком отечественной литературы, яркая и насыщенная эмоциями музыкальная история.

Роль Голоса озера и партию кантеле исполняет Мария Федотова (Петрозаводская государственная консерватория им. А. К. Глазунова).

В 2021 году хор театра за работу в этом спектакле получил специальный приз жюри Республиканской театральной премии «Онежская маска».
