No one else understands better than Mehmet C. Yeşilçay how to combine the sound worlds of the Orient and the Occident to create a sensual mixture for the concert hall. The focus of the concert is the "Tamerlano" settings by GF Handel and his contemporaries, as well as music from the Ottoman Empire. Tamerlane, better known as Timur or Timur Lenk, was historically one of the most violent rulers at the beginning of the 15th century, striving to restore the Mongol Empire and getting into a military conflict with the Ottoman Empire under Sultan Bayezid I. The libretto by Agostino Piovene, the content of which apparently deals with the conflict between Bayezid and Tamerlane, but mainly deals with allegorical and philosophical themes, was the template for almost 40 settings up to 1810.
