For its eighth edition, La Fabrique Opéra Val de Loire is collaborating with Didier Girauldon to stage this drama of love, politics and death, inspired by Victorien Sardou's play. Supported by the ardent and passionate music of Puccini, then at the height of his art, transfigured by the arias that made him famous ( Vissi d'arte, E lucevan le stelle, etc. ), the success of this modern and popular opera , intimate and grandiose, mixing realism and melodrama, is not about to die out.
In the 19th century , in Italy. Following a change of regime, Angelotti is a political prisoner on the run. He finds refuge in a church, and helps with the painter Mario Cavaradossi, lover of the singer Floria Tosca. But the gesture of the painter has serious consequences. Indeed, the occasion is too good for the infamous Scarpia, the chief of police: he has coveted the singer for a long time, and sees there the opportunity to stir up her jealousy, put Angelotti back in prison and lose at the same time Cavaradossi, his rival…In the 19th century , in Italy. Pour sa huitième édition, La Fabrique Opéra Val de Loire collabore avec Didier Girauldon pour mettre en scène ce drame d’amour, de politique et de mort, inspiré par la pièce de théâtre de Victorien Sardou. Soutenu par la musique ardente et passionnée de Puccini alors au faîte de son art, transfiguré par les airs qui en ont fait la célébrité (Vissi d’arte, E lucevan le stelle…), le succès de cet opéra à la fois moderne et populaire, intimiste et grandiose, mêlant réalisme et mélodrame, n’est pas près de s’éteindre.
Au XIXe siècle, en Italie. Suite à un changement de régime, Angelotti est un prisonnier politique en fuite. Il trouve refuge dans une église, et de l’aide auprès du peintre Mario Cavaradossi, amant de la cantatrice Floria Tosca. Mais le geste du peintre a de lourdes conséquences. En effet, l’occasion est trop belle pour l’infâme Scarpia, le chef de la police : il convoite depuis longtemps la cantatrice, et voit là l’occasion d’attiser la jalousie de celle-ci, remettre Angelotti en prison et perdre par la même occasion Cavaradossi, son rival…
