Пучини създава „Тоска“ на границата между XIX и XX век, във време на бурни и тревожни промени и големи очаквания. Операта е класически представител на жанра със сложните преплетени съдби, темите за любов, морал и житейски избор и трагичния си финал. Действието се развива в Рим по времето на Наполеоновите войни, а централна нишка в сюжета е любовта между художника Каварадоси и актрисата Тоска. Съвместен проект на Държавна опера Варна и ММФ „Варненско лято“, представлението на „Тоска“ под диригентската палка на Павел Балев, с участието на звездното сопрано Красимира Стоянова и певците със световна кариера Милен Божков и Пламен Димитров, несъмнено е една от кулминациите на Опера в Летния театър – Варна 2023.

Puccini created “Tosca” on the border between the 19th and 20th centuries, in a time of turbulent and alarming changes and great expectations. The opera is a classic representative of the genre based on themes of love, morality, life choices and tragic finale. The action takes place in Rome during the Napoleon Wars, and the central point in the plot is the love between the painter Cavaradossi and the actress Tosca. A joint project of Varna State Opera and Varna Summer International Music Festival, the performance of “Tosca” under the baton of Pavel Balev, with the participation of the star soprano Krasimira Stoyanova and the world-renowned singers Milen Bozhkov and Plamen Dimitrov, is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Opera in the Summer Theater – Varna 2023.
