Although Tristan once killed her fiancé, the Irish king's daughter Isolde saved the life of the nephew of the warring King of Cornwall and fell in love with him. But the legitimate living out of their love is like a utopia. King Marke is said to be Isolde's husband. Between passion and a sense of duty, Tristan and Isolde seek their way in the field of tension between social norms and personal inclination. The common longing for death should bring them closer to their desire for union, but the supposed death potion turns out to be a love potion. Believing themselves close to death, they surrender to their forbidden love in order to realize that they seem to be trapped in this side of the utopia of their love even further away. Driven by the overwhelming power of emotions, they are ready to transgress all limits of human morality.
