Maik comes from a middle-class background and can no longer stand his home, especially his father, and at school he is ignored by the woman of his dreams. It's a good thing that the holidays are approaching, the mother is going to the spa, and the father wants to travel with his beloved. Maik decides to take a car trip with Tschick, who is new in his class, comes from Russia and sees the world through different eyes. The aim is to visit Tschick's grandfather in Wallachia. On their journey they come to other places, meet extraordinary people and get to know Isa, who leads a completely different life than they do. The adventure begins, Maik's life takes on new facets. Dangers, unusual encounters and refreshing moments accompany the travelers. After the novel, the play and the film, now the opera by the composer Ludger Vollmer,
