Probably written at the beginning of the 18th century by dramatist Antonio de Zamora, the zarzuela Viento es la dicha de Amor premièred in Madrid on November 28, 1743. With music by José de Nebra, the mythological story by Zamora and the score of the most relevant Spanish composer inthe decades of the mid 18th century came together.

The piece takes place over two days. It presents three stories of amorous desire on three different but related levels. The first is the relationship Liriope-Zephyrus. She is a nymph who is dedicated to the worship of the God Love. At the beginning of the work, his temple is aflame, set on fire by Zephyrus the God of Wind. On a second level we have Antenor, a foreign Count, who is madly in love with Phaedra. Phaedra is also in love, but it is an unrequitted love of Zephyrus. Delfa, a nymph, and Marsyas, the Count’s servant, represent the common folk in this triple imbroglio.

For this production Andrés Lima transports us to a Swiss Spa of the 21st century. Three employees tell the story of Zephyrus and Liriope to a mysterious character who turns out to be the God Love. Lima substitutes most of the verses from the original libretto with a selection of Spanish Love Poetry from the 17th to the 21st centuries. He injects large doses of eroticism and desire on to his stage by way of the verses, beauty, sensuality, massage... and Epicurus.
