Mit dem berühmtesten Akkord der Operngeschichte, dem berüchtigten »Tristan-Akkord «, beginnt das Vorspiel zu Wagners Liebestrank-Oper, ein dissonanter Zusammenklang, der wie eine Urzelle die ganze moderne Musik beeinflusste. Dem konnte sich auch Richard Strauss nicht entziehen, weder als Opernkomponist noch als Schöpfer von über 42 Orchesterliedern. Als Nachklang zum letztjährigen Strauss-Fokus präsentiert Anja Harteros eine Auswahl seiner Kompositionen für Gesang mit Orchesterbegleitung. Béla Bartók, Stammvater der ungarischen Moderne, fiel es schwer, im amerikanischen Exil Fuß zu fassen. Sein »Konzert für Orchester« beschreibt seine innere Zerrissenheit zwischen Alter und Neuer Welt. Am Pult steht erstmals der junge niederbayerische Dirigent Thomas Guggeis, seit 2020 ist er Staatskapellmeister in Berlin. Zur Spielzeit 2023/24 übernimmt er als Generalmusikdirektor die Leitung der Frankfurter Oper.

The prelude to Wagner's Liebesrank opera begins with the most famous chord in opera history, the notorious »Tristan chord«, a dissonant harmony that influenced all of modern music like a primordial cell. Richard Strauss could not escape this either, either as an opera composer or as the creator of over 42 orchestral songs. As an aftertaste of last year's Strauss focus, Anja Harteros presents a selection of his compositions for voice with orchestral accompaniment. Béla Bartók, the progenitor of Hungarian modernism, found it difficult to gain a foothold in exile in America. His "Concerto for Orchestra" describes his inner conflict between the old and the new world. The young conductor Thomas Guggeis from Lower Bavaria will be on the podium for the first time. He has been Staatskapellmeister in Berlin since 2020.

The Lithuanian soprano Asmik Grigorian stands in for Anja Harteros, who unfortunately had to cancel her participation in the concerts for personal reasons. In addition to Richard Strauss' "Four Last Songs", Asmik Grigorian will also interpret Liebestod from Richard Wagner's opera "Tristan und Isolde" in the Isarphilharmonie.
