Eugene Onegin was one of the favorite works of composer Piotr Tchaikovsky. He was happy to see the success of this baby of his own not only in Russia but also in Europe. This is explained by the feelings that Tchaikovsky put into Onegin: “I wrote this opera because one fine day I was indescribably eager to convey everything that Onegine had asked to be so conveyed. That's what I did as I knew it. ”

Eugene Onegin has become one of the world's favorite and most frequently performed performances in the world's opera house repertoire.

Eugenijus Oneginas was staged at the Lithuanian Opera in 1923, 1929, 1936, 1954, 1972, 1981 and 2006 (LNOBT Opera Studio).

The latest Eugene Onegin, created by LNOBT, was presented by a young opera director, Vasily Barchatov (b. 1983). Despite his "indecently" young age, Born and raised in Moscow, he graduated from the Shostakovich Music School and the aforementioned GITIS, did an internship at the Komische Oper theater in Berlin and has already created 15 performances on stages such as the St. Mary and Moscow Grand Theaters, and in 2011 became a Russian As a member of the Culture and Arts Council under the auspices of the President, Barchatov says he is most concerned with what Tchaikovsky himself wrote in the opera score.


In the director's treatment "EUGENIJUS ONEGINAS" there is a "timeless" story. And while the costumes will reveal a slightly more specific period - the beginning of the last century, all the dramas in the opera - meetings, divorces, the inevitable change of life - took place then, and still take place today.
