Zylan, a rising pop star, suspected of homosexuality, is arrested on his way to a wedding. This opera for a singer, on a terribly current subject of society, takes us on a journey into the sensitive, the dream and the human.

On stage, a single man locked in a small room whose walls are covered with bars, like a cage. Three musicians accompany him on electric guitar, cello and percussion: halfway between opera and theatre, the score creates a dialogue between words, song and music, to enter into intimate emotions. A small form, interpreted by a new generation of artists, who proposes to make opera accessible to all and to deal with essential societal themes, such as discrimination and homophobia. Like the didactic pieces of Bertold Brecht and Kurt Weill, the work resonates with everyone, and viewers can empathize with this poignant story: another facet of opera today.

Zylan, étoile montante de la pop, soupçonné d’homo- sexualité, est arrêté alors qu’il se rend à un mariage. Cet opéra pour un chanteur, sur un sujet de société terriblement actuel, nous fait voyager dans le sensible, le rêve et l’humain.

Sur scène, un homme seul enfermé dans une petite pièce dont les murs sont couverts de barreaux, telle une cage. Trois musiciens l’accompagnent à la guitare électrique, au violoncelle et aux percussions: à mi-chemin entre l’opéra et le théâtre, la partition fait dialoguer parole, chant et musique, pour entrer dans l’intime des émotions. Une petite forme, interprétée par une nouvelle génération d’artistes, qui se propose de rendre l’opéra accessible à tous et de traiter de thèmes sociétaux essentiels, comme les discriminations et l’homophobie. À la manière des pièces didactiques de Bertold Brecht et de Kurt Weill, l’œuvre résonne en chacun, et les spectateurs peuvent se glisser avec empathie dans cette histoire poignante: une autre facette de l’opéra d’aujourd’hui.
