The Magic Flute” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a beautiful and timeless opera that tells a captivating story of love, courage, and perseverance. With its enchanting music and stunning visuals, it is sure to delight audiences of all ages. This Mauritian version will be performed in both French and English. This show is not suitable for kids under the age of 4.
“The Magic Flute” tells the story of Prince Tamino, who is saved from a monster by the three ladies in service of the Queen of the Night. They give Tamino a portrait of the queen’s daughter, Pamina, who has been enslaved by the evil Sarastro. Tamino falls in love with her and sets out to rescue her, with the help of Papageno, his birdcatcher friend. They are given a magic flute and silver bells to ensure their safety and are guided by a group of Spirits. Along the way, they face many obstacles, including a pursuer and the realization that the Queen of the Night is actually the villain of the story. Eventually, Tamino and Pamina are reunited and face the trials of water and fire together, protected by the magic flute. Papageno finds his true love with Papagena, and they make plans for their future. The story ends with the defeat of the Queen of the Night and her allies, and the triumph of courage, virtue, and wisdom.
