Few recent operas have enjoyed the success that Tobias Picker’s “Emmeline” achieved on its arrival in 1996. Its critically acclaimed debut production at the Santa Fe Opera was nationally televised on PBS and issued on CD; New York City Opera mounted the work in 1998.
