Biography
Born in Marseille, the French mezzo soprano, Sophie Pondjiclis, studied singing and acting at the Conservatoire National Supérieur and Ecole d’Art Lyrique de l’Opéra de Paris. She made her debut in Nancy and Toulon with Ruggiero in Händel’s Alcina, Nicklausse in Offenbach’s Les contes d'Hoffmann and Rosine in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Her operatic repertoire includes La Haine in Glück’s Armide (Riccardo Muti, conductor) and Javotte in Massenet’s Manon (Gary Bertini, conductor) - both at Teatro alla Scala Milano, Olga in Eugene Onegin(Genève), La chatte, L'écureuil, La bergère Louis XV, Le pâtre in l’Enfant et les Sortilèges (Théâtre des Champs Elysées Paris, Orchestre National de France, Charles Dutoit; Teatro Comunale di Firenze, Chung, conductor; Orchestre Symphonique de Berlin, Serge B
