Success for Maria Kataeva at Operalia

Maria Kataeva, mezzo-soprano in the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein , has won two prizes in Plácido Domingo's Operalia 2019 singing competition. She won both second prize and the audience prize at the internationally renowned opera competition. This is the second time in a row that a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein ensemble has emerged as the winner or runner-up in this competition, which is considered the most important in the world. (Adela Zaharia won first prize in 2017.)

Maria Kataeva, a star is born "I would like Pesaro in my future"

Maria Kataeva is undoubtedly one of the revelations of this 43rd edition of the Rossini Opera Festival. Applauded interpreter in Le Comte Ory in the role of Isolier (the young servant of the Count), the Russian mezzo-soprano, who this evening makes her debut at the opera's premiere, conquered everyone at the other evening's general for her skill, talent and stage presence. Many, including Ernesto Palacio, are looking to her as one of the festival's future stars.
