After making his operatic debut in 1996 in the role of Don Chilone in Vinci’s Erighetta e Don Chilone for the Laboratorio Lirico of Palermo, he sang Darlemont in I pazzi per progetto by Donizetti (in a production by Enzo Dara) with the Operalaboratorio di Palermo. In spring 1997 he was invited to take part in the re-opening of the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, having sung there in R. Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier (Hausknecht). This was followed by several appearances at the Teatro Massimo: in 1998 as Califfo in Rossini’s Adina (ovvero il Califfo di Bagdad), as Comandante di marina in Manon Lescaut and as Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin; in 1999 he debuted as Nevrastenico in La notte di un nevrastenico by Rota.
