Mauro Colantonio

Mauro Colantonio is an Italian gambist and flautist. He graduated with top marks in viola da gamba under the guidance of Rodney Prada and in flute baroque flute in the class of Marco Brolli, both at the Scuola Civica di Musica „C. Abbado‘ in Milan. He then went on to specialise in Amsterdam in historical flutes with Marten Root and, under the guidance of Vittorio Ghielmi, at the viola da gamba at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. As a multi-instrumentalist, conductor and arranger, he devotes himself to the study of music from the Renaissance to the classical period, with a focus on improvisation and the influence of repertoire ethnic repertoire.
