Opera Compact is a Limburg opera company that works in, with and from the region and its cultural possibilities. Opera Compact stands for qualitative, approachable and accessible productions, talent development, young audiences and cultural participation. 

Art can put things into perspective, expose human incapacity with love, make connections and thereby give strength. In this way art helps to take up a position in society. In an increasingly divided society, artists must seize this ability to connect. The power of opera lies in the connection between the story and the language of music, which can speak to the head and heart when understanding falls short. Opera Compact appeals to a broad target group: everyone can feel welcome, regardless of education, age or background.

Opera places themes on a large timeline; Mozart or Puccini also struggled with themes that are relevant today. Opera Compact wants to share these music-theatrical stories with proven eternal value, across all layers of society. By attracting artists from, among other places, their own region (whereby no concessions are made to quality) and by collaborating on content with various local partners, the company binds the audience to itself and keeps them bound. Opera Compact reaches people who normally do not have access to opera. Opera Compact makes high-quality productions that are normally not accessible to people with a smaller budget.

Opera Compact endorses the Governance Code Cultuur (www.governancecodecultuur.nl)

The daily management of the Opera Compact Foundation consists of a permanent core of artistic director Sybrand van der Werf and business director Fenna Ograjensek. Together, Ograjensek and Van der Werf combine a great deal of experience in the field of opera. The day-to-day management is supervised by a Supervisory Board (unpaid).

Opera Compact is een Limburgs operagezelschap dat in, met en vanuit de regio toegankelijke en verrassende producties maakt van hoge artistieke kwaliteit. 
Opera Compact wil verwonderen, vermaken én bevragen door middel van operavoorstellingen in direct contact met een breed publiek. 
Kunst stelt mensen in staat de dagelijkse worstelingen te delen door uit te drukken: 'dit gaat over jou'. Kunst legt met liefde het menselijk onvermogen bloot, verbindt en geeft daardoor kracht. Zo helpt kunst bij het innemen van een positie in de maatschappij. Opera als combinatie van verhaal en muziek spreekt tot het hoofd en hart als begrip tekort schiet, dwars door alle bevolkingslagen heen. 
We schromen niet bestaand materiaal te bewerken om ons tot een hedendaags publiek te verhouden. We richten ons op bijzondere (buiten)locaties waar weinig opera wordt gespeeld: middenzalen, maar ook op locatie, van weilanden tot fabriekshallen. Mede door een kleinere schaal komen voorstelling letterlijk dichtbij. Talentontwikkeling, educatie en cultuurparticipatie horen als vanzelf bij onze doelstellingen.
