One of the autumn themes of the Sinfonietta are the symphonies of Robert Schumann, the first of which is the third symphony crowned with a sumptuous French horn set. The additional name "Reiniläinen" tells about the cultural-historical significance of the mighty river that runs through Western Europe, which for Schumann is summed up in the view of the Cologne Cathedral in the fourth section. Harri Wessmann's trumpet concerto from 1987 is one of the classics of its genre. It is an airy and nimble virtuoso work, whose modern features are hidden under a deceptive simplicity. Canadian Cassandra Miller often takes the works of other composers as a starting point for her music. Swim dives into the subjects of Schumann's third symphony, but brings to the present day the ideas that derive from poet Anne Carson's essay Swimming With My Brother
