Zum Auftakt der Wiederaufnahme dieses ambitionierten Unternehmens erzählt »Das Rheingold« vom Urgrund der großen Geschichte: wie der Nibelung Alberich die Liebe verflucht, den alles beherrschenden Ring schmiedet und der Göttervater Wotan damit schuldhaft den Bau seiner Burg bezahlt. Für Wagners tönenden Weltenmythos ist einmal mehr eine Top-Besetzung aufgeboten.

Rarely have you heard Wagner speak so transparently, brightly and with such joy. Kent Nagano realizes the vision of developing the “Ring of the Nibelung” in a historically informed manner. To restart the project, “Das Rheingold” can now be experienced again.

Kent Nagano and Concerto Köln are now continuing their original sound-oriented “Wagner readings” with the Dresden Festival Orchestra. At the start of the revival of this ambitious undertaking, "Das Rheingold" tells the origins of the great story: how the Nibelung Alberich curses love, forges the all-controlling ring and the father of the gods, Wotan, uses it to pay for the construction of his castle. Once again, a top cast has been called up for Wagner's resonant world myth.
