The Spessart is a dangerous place that you should avoid at all costs. It's easy to fall into the clutches of ruthless thieves there. And yet the tomboy Comtesse Franziska and her entourage get lost in the middle of the forest. The stranded seek shelter in the spooky inn. They don't know that this is a notorious robber bar. Now begins a fast-paced robber pistol with kidnapping, intrigues, mix-ups and a delightful love story.

The famous Lower Franconian story about the notorious Spessart gang, which attacks a carriage on the way to Würzburg, has fascinated and delighted generations, not least because of the popular film with Lieselotte Pulver. The wonderful musical comedy guarantees a delightfully colourful, enjoyable, spooky and cheerfully lively spectacle with the wonderful music of Franz Grothe. At the latest when the robbers Knoll and Funzel sing their hit song "Oh, that could be nice" and dream of a bourgeois life with a little house, you indulge in blissful waltz happiness and enjoy the curious stage play.

"Das Wirtshaus im Spessart" is one of the favorite pieces of German entertainment theatre. An amusing musical farce with all the ingredients that please the audience, garnished with enjoyable music, ensures a charming evening of theater full of wit and esprit in the atmospheric ambience of Brattenstein Castle.

Der Spessart ist ein gefährliches Pflaster, das man tunlichst meiden sollte. Denn dort gerät man leicht in die Fänge von ruchlosen Räubern. Und dennoch verirrt sich die burschikose Comtesse Franziska samt Gefolge mitten im Wald. Im unheimlichen Wirtshaus suchen die Gestrandeten Schutz. Sie wissen nicht, dass dies eine berüchtigte Räuberspelunke ist. Nun beginnt eine rasante Räuberpistole mit Entführung, Intrigen, Verwechslungen und einer entzückenden Liebesgeschichte.

Die berühmte unterfränkische Geschichte über die berüchtigte Spessartbande, die eine Kutsche auf dem Weg nach Würzburg überfällt, fasziniert und erfreut seit Generationen nicht zuletzt durch den populären Film mit Lieselotte Pulver. Die herrliche musikalische Komödie garantiert ein reizend buntes, genussvoll gruseliges und heiter beschwingtes Spektakel mit der herrlichen Musik von Franz Grothe. Spätestens wenn die Räuber Knoll und Funzel ihren Gassenhauer „Ach, das könnte schön sein“ intonieren und sich ein bürgerliches Leben mit Häuschen erträumen, schwelgt man in seligem Walzerglück und erfreut sich am kuriosen Bühnenspiel.
