Die Geschichte von Dorothy aus Kansas hat Generationen von Kindern verzaubert. Denn sie kann verzaubern, im Gegensatz zum „großen und mächtigen Zauberer von Oz“. Dorothy wird zur Heldin (und das passt zum Festspielmotto!) im fremden Land. Ihre Freunde, der feige Löwe, der herzlose Blechmann und die verstandlose Vogelscheuche helfen ihr dabei...

Für die Junge Oper 2023 ist Der Zauberer von Oz als Aufragswerk entstanden und erlebt im Opernzelt die Uraufführung. Komponistin ist Lucy Landymore, BBC Young Musician of the Year und Schlagzeugerin bei Hans Zimmer. Regie führt Annika Nitsch, die sich dem Heidenheimer Publikum mit der Inszenierung von Moses´ Entscheidung vorgestellt hat, und die Ausstattung kommt vom weltweit erfolgreichen Künstlerduo VestAndPage.

Klavier, Schlagzeug, drei Sänger*innen und eine Kinderdarstellerin als Dorothy - im Opernzelt gibt es in kleiner Besetzung mal wieder eine große Junge Oper für Alle!

Sie besuchen eine Vorstellung von Der Zauberer von Oz mit einer Kindergruppe? Unsere Musiktheaterpädagogen besuchen Sie gerne vorher in Ihrer Bildungseinrichtung und bereiten die Kinder spielerisch auf den Vorstellungsbesuch vor.

I HAVE ONE WISH, IT'S HUGE...

The story of Dorothy from Kansas has enchanted generations of children. Because she can enchant, in contrast to the "great and powerful wizard of Oz". Dorothy becomes a heroine (and that fits the festival motto!) in a foreign country. Her friends the cowardly lion, the heartless tin man and the stupid scarecrow help her...

The Wizard of Oz was created as a commissioned work for the Junge Oper 2023 and will be premiered in the opera tent. The composer is Lucy Landymore, BBC Young Musician of the Year and drummer with Hans Zimmer. The director is Annika Nitsch, who introduced herself to the Heidenheim audience with the staging of Moses' decision, and the design comes from the globally successful artist duo VestAndPage.

Piano, drums, three singers and a child actress as Dorothy - in the opera tent there is once again a big young opera for everyone with a small cast!

Are you attending a performance of The Wizard of Oz with a group of children? Our music theater educators will be happy to visit you at your educational institution beforehand and prepare the children for the performance in a playful way.
