Après avoir dirigé, Idomeneo, Les Noces de Figaro, Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni, avec le succès phénoménal que l’on connaît, Jérémie Rhorer nous offre, en primeur à Beaune, La Flûte enchantée, l’opéra le plus populaire que Mozart, en magicien inégalé, ait composé sur un livret magistral de son ami Schikaneder, librettiste mais aussi initiateur du rôle de Papageno. Créée deux mois avant son décès, la Flûte enchantée est un conte féérique dont le sujet est l’élévation par la sagesse, l’amour et la bonté de l’être humain à une moralité plus haute correspondant aux idées du siècle des Lumières, l’Aufklärung du rationalisme. Tamino, jeune prince, et Papageno, un compagnon oiseleur, nous emmènent à la recherche de Pamina, fille de la Reine de la Nuit, enlevée par le mage Sarastro qui la retient prisonnière. Grâce à une flûte enchantée et à un carillon magique, Tamino et Papageno retouvent Pamina. La Flûte enchantée rencontre dès sa création un véritable triomphe et ne tarde pas à conquérir toutes les scènes du monde, Au moment où Mozart quitte un monde pour entrer dans un autre : la musique de la Flûte enchantée signe l’entrée dans le 19e siècle. Enfin, Anne Blanchard a réuni un plateau de solistes de rêve avec dans les rôles titres  Matthew Newlin en Tamino, Mari Eriksmoen en Pamina, Sarah Traubel en Reine de la nuit (qui fait ses débuts français à Beaune) ou Riccardo Novaro en Papageno et dans les autres rôles de prodigieux jeunes talents.

After having conducted, Idomeneo, The Marriage of Figaro, Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni, with the phenomenal success that we know, Jérémie Rhorer conducts, in Beaune, The Magic Flute. The most popular and marvelous opera written by Mozart, the unrivalled magician. The opera is based on a masterful libretto of Mozart’s friend Schikaneder, librettist but also initiator of the role of Papageno. Created two months before his death, the Magic Flute is a magical fairy tale dealing with the elevation by wisdom, love and goodness of the human being to a higher morality corresponding to the ideas of the Age of Enlightenment, the Aufklärung of rationalism. Since the beginning “The Magic Flute” was a real success. At the moment Mozart leaves one world to enter another: the music of the Magic Flute marks the beginning of the 19th century.
