Wie Franz Lehár zählt der Ungar Emmerich Kálmán zu den wichtigsten Vertretern der zweiten großen Operettenära. Werke wie „Die Csárdásfürstin“, „Gräfin Mariza“ oder „Die Zirkusprinzessin“ waren und sind bis heute große Erfolge. Letztere feierte 1926 am Theater an der Wien Premiere. Vor allem das Lied „Zwei Märchenaugen“ wurde vielfach von prominenten Tenören aufgenommen, und auch sonst versprüht das Stück neben der bunten Zirkuswelt Operetten- und Wiener-Charme.

Like Franz Lehár, the Hungarian Emmerich Kálmán is one of the most important representatives of the second great operetta era. Works such as "The Csárdásfürstin", "Countess Mariza" or "The Circus Princess" were and are still great successes today. The latter premiered in 1926 at the Theater an der Wien. Above all, the song "Zwei fairy tale eyes" was often recorded by prominent tenors, and the piece also exudes operetta and Viennese charm in addition to the colorful circus world.
