The G. Verdi's Don Charles premiere of took place in 1867. In Paris, the opera is based on a play by Friedrich Schiller. As a genius music playwright, Verdi was well aware that Schiller’s political drama provides far fewer opportunities to convey viewers ’favorite passions and collisions of feelings than the family relationship drama. So the two were combined into one perfect drama of personal, political and ideological conflicts. After finishing the score for the Paris Opera, Verdi was only 53 years old, but he spent another 20 years editing, shortening, removing arias or scenes from here, and returning them here again… No other opera had so many editions. " Don Carlo's score makes it very clear where Verdi bowed to the Paris Opera Convention and where he was the master of his work.
