The masterpiece of the comic opera genre "Don Pasquale" is the story of how the elderly bachelor Don Pasquale is pranked by his doctor Malatesta and the doctor's "sister" Norina - a young, beautiful widow, who in the finale is married by his nephew Ernesto, overwhelmed by love feelings. The premiere of the opera "Don Pasquale" took place at the Théâtre-Italien in Paris in 1843. The previous production of this opera at the Latvian National Opera was conducted in 1950 under the leadership of conductor Edgars Ton.

Komiskās operas žanra meistardarbs “Dons Paskvāle” ir stāsts par to, kā padzīvojušo vecpuisi donu Paskvāli izjoko viņa ārsts Malatesta un ārsta “māsa” Norīna – jauna, skaista atraitne, kuru finālā apprec mīlas jūtu pārņemtais brāļadēls Ernesto. Operas “Dons Paskvāle” pirmizrāde notika Théâtre-Italien Parīzē 1843. gadā. Latvijas Nacionālajā operā iepriekšējais šīs operas iestudējums diriģenta Edgara Tona vadībā tika īstenots 1950. gadā.
