Eiger Introduction

In 1936 four young daredevils tried to be the first to conquer the north face of the Eiger. The first attempt the year before was fatal. The radical nature of the mountain, which knows no mercy, which scoffs at the megalomania of the little man and yet finally embraces and absorbs him, forms one level of the opera. The mountain walk of the four men is the other - they brace themselves against the weather and the mountain wall. Overpowering nature, on the other hand, has something as Mephistophelian as it is witch-like. In a fight - or rather a game - in front of the small, slender person, she shows herself in all the exuberant wildness and beauty that characterize opera as a genre. "

With these words the writer Tim Krohn describes the opera "Eiger", for which he wrote the libretto. The music of "Eiger" comes from Fabian Müller, one of the most important Swiss composers of our time.
