Insomnio is a Dutch ensemble with a big heart for contemporary music. With their program SOLO/together they celebrate the art of ensemble playing and the magical role of the soloist. The soloists from the own ensemble are recruited for the specially composed concert program. The musicians take turns taking on the role of soloist, while in the other pieces they are part of the collective. The listener can prepare for exciting conversations, stimulating roles, and new effects and timbres.

Insomnio presents three solo concerts by Michel van der Aa, Dai Fujikura and Luca Francesconi. Van der Aa presents a new ensemble version of his classic akin , a double concerto for violin and cello. Abandoned Time , a concerto for electric guitar, is performed by the Japanese composer Dai Fujikura . Italian Luca Francesconi surprises with his swinging Islands , a concert for piano and ensemble. In contrast to this is the work de telarum mechanie (Latin for loom) by the British James Wood, in which all ensemble players take up the challenge of weaving the equally virtuoso ensemble parts into a tight tapestry of melodic lines.

Insomnio, which operates from Utrecht, led by conductor Ulrich Pöhl, was responsible for more than five hundred new works for ensemble and worked intensively with composers such as Pierre Boulez, Jukka Tiensuu, Dai Fujikura, Peter Eötvös and Luca Francesconi. They were previously guests at November Music with work by Heiner Goebbels.
