With Hans Huber's oratorio Prophecy and Fulfillment , a work is being performed whose genesis and performance history is closely linked to the city of Basel. 108 years ago, in December 1913, the Basel premiere of the work took place with the participation of the then Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Basel Choral Society. The oratorio was dedicated to Elisabeth and Paul Speiser-Sarasin, who were deeply connected to Hans Huber as friends and patrons. Elisabeth was Huber's piano student, and it was not uncommon for the composer's four-hand piano works to be premiered at the Salonmusik in the Speiser-Sarasin house. The Hans Huber Hall, which adjoins the music hall in the Stadtcasino Basel, is named in honor of the Swiss composer, who lived in Basel for forty years.
