Full of beautiful folk songs and sparkling satire, this opera is one of the best works of Slavic opera literature in which people with true virtues and flaws live their fresh stage life. The feat of disguising the rich peasant Mića, who allegedly comes from the other world in order to test the temper and loyalty of the girl he loves, develops in a rich series of comic situations and plots. It is one of the few Croatian operas performed on foreign stages, mostly in Germany.

Ero s onoga svijeta, najbolja i u svijetu najizvođenija hrvatska opera, nenadmašno je remek-djelo Jakova Gotovca, koje će i ove godine zablistati u punom sjaju u svom najprirodnijem okružju, na tlu s kojeg je i ponikla. Vrlika je rodno mjesto libretista Milana Begovića, ali i ishodište brojnih folklornih poticaja koje je Gotovac majstorski uklopio u ovo djelo.
