Johann Sebastian Bach is especially known for two great passions, the Johannine Passion and the St. Matthew Passion. The latter is the greatest, but the St. John's Passion is at least as poignant in its short dramatic and concentrated form.

With orchestra, choir and soloists, the intense and dramatic Easter story from the Gospel of John, which is one of the most important works in the history of church music, is retold.
