Unity of time, place and action imposed the classical rule of the theatre. And here we are in a single "crazy day", in the castle of Aguas-Frescas. And the action? Figaro and Susanna get married while avoiding the advances of the Count of Almaviva towards her. Sounds simple, but there's so much more. It is the story of four couples: two teenagers, two newlyweds, a marriage in crisis, a past love that flourishes in maturity. Of social classes: the nobles and the workers. Of relationships between the sexes, of female solidarity, jealousies and seductions. It is also the story of Eros, from the discovery of the senses of Cherubino to the mature marriage cravings of Marcellina. The unity of action is also multiplicity in the perfect mechanism of the first collaboration (Vienna, 1786) between Mozart and the librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte. Other explorations of the soul and of human relationships with will followDon Giovanni (1787) and Cosi fan tutte (1790). In the finale of the Wedding, however, a sublime forgiveness brings the only real ray of hope and celebration.

Unità tempo, di luogo e d’azione imponeva la regola classica del teatro. Ed eccoci in un’unica “folle giornata”, nel castello di Aguas-Frescas. E l’azione? Figaro e Susanna si sposano evitando le avance del conte di Almaviva nei confronti di lei. Sembra semplice, ma c’è molto di più. È storia di quattro coppie: due adolescenti, due sposini, un matrimonio in crisi, un amore passato che rifiorisce nella maturità. Di classi sociali: i nobili e i lavoratori. Di rapporti fra sessi, di solidarietà femminile, gelosie e seduzioni. È storia anche di Eros, dalla scoperta dei sensi di Cherubino alle mature smanie matrimoniali di Marcellina. L’unità d’azione è anche molteplicità nel perfetto meccanismo della prima collaborazione (Vienna, 1786) fra Mozart e il librettista Lorenzo Da Ponte. Seguiranno altre esplorazioni dell’animo e dei rapporti umani con Don Giovanni (1787) e Così fan tutte (1790). Nel finale delle Nozze, però un sublime perdono porta l’unico vero raggio di speranza e di festa.
